Equine Assisted Learning
Our equine assisted learning programs (EAL) offer groups and classrooms the opportunity to learn and have hands-on experience with horses and other animals available at The Barns. We can design lesson plans and accommodate field trips so that each kid can learn new skills and relate them to everyday life. EAL are unmounted activities only. Unmounted activities improve safety and body awareness, foster responsibility, personal growth, and healthy relationship building, and use the horse as a mirror for the client's actions, emotions, and body language. Some of the most important work with an equine is done from the ground. We have a variety of EAL activities and groups.
Class Field Trip
Schedule your classroom for a field trip to The Barns. Learn about horses, safety, and the many life skills involved with equines. We can tailor each class's itinerary for lessons being learned in the classroom.
We also work with classrooms to create lesson plans for monthly or biweekly visits incorporating the equines and surroundings to foster learning.

Pony Pals Program
The Barns at Blue Mountain's Pony Pals program offers ages 6-14 a short-term equine-assisted learning group. Pony Pals allows kids time outdoors, physical exercise, and supportive relationships with our equine partners, volunteers, and their peers. The program focuses on stress reduction skills, responsibility, communication, and teamwork while working on the ground with our Blue Mountain equines and learning equine handling, safety, and care. Non-mounted activities only.
Cost is $25 per child per week, there are no scholarships available for this class as it provides needed funds to feed and care for the equines. Please note, this is NOT a therapy group and we are not offering treatment for any diagnosis or disorder. For more information on our Pony Pals program email our Director at barns@bluemountaintherapy.com or fill in the form.
Meets every Tuesday evenings 5pm-6:30pm weather permitting! Open to anyone age 6+ who is wanting to learn about horses.
Next Class begins tuesday February 25th 2025
Leadership and Teamwork EAL with organizations and businesses
Our trained staff and horse partners can facilitate equine interactions and activities for companies, organizations, small businesses, and managers. In these teamwork building exercises, participants are exposed to activities that can promote the discovery of critical life skills such as healthy decision making and problem solving, creative and critical thinking, self-awareness and empathy, communication and interpersonal skills, and coping with emotions and stress.
